北韓領導人金正恩想要藉由「引爆兩韓衝突」，讓國際更關注朝鮮半島。金正恩甚至異想天開盼藉由國際關注，讓北韓擁有更多援助。
在美方跟中方紛紛表態希望北韓停止挑釁，證明金正恩適得其反。在看似「吸引國際關注」的華麗外表下，其實「已遭國際孤立」，金正恩自以為穿著國王的新衣，充其量只是件「重覆使用的二手衣」。
南韓是美國重要的盟邦，美國曾為協助南韓而派遣大軍，與南韓並肩作戰。南韓在國際組織及活動中，莫不採取與美國一致的立場。北韓挑釁炮擊，仍位居世界龍頭的美國，當然會為南韓「挺身而出」。
儘管大陸與北韓關係好，擁有深厚的關係，顯然這次中方也看不下去，希望兩韓以對話解決問題，不願意看到衝突，顯示金正恩以為自己打的一手好牌卻失效。在國際間北韓毫無牽制力和說服力。仍穿著國王新衣的金正恩，渾然不覺，持續用著同樣的方法，不知國際間早已當笑柄。
